Pots are quickly removed from the kiln when glowing red, approximately 1800 degrees. They are immediately sealed in a can of leaves or paper where they erupt into flame. The unique patterns of metallic colors in the glaze result from the flame, smoke and rapid cooling. The work reflects the unpredictable nature of the firing.
