From the Matyo region of Hungary and dating from the first quarter of the 20th century a stunning hand embroidered cover.
Covered with the traditional floss silk hand embroidery, which this region is famous for, the colours are rich but have an overall subtlety that later examples of this type lack.
Rich jewel colours have been worked in traditional repeating floral patterns and the whole piece is finished with a hand knotted fringe.
Probably originally intended as a table cover, it lends itself well to interior decor.

36 x 36 inches (92 x 92 cm) including fringing
Condition.
In very good antique condition with an overall patina of age as to be expected in a textile from this era.
